Graduation

Last week, through a veil of unshed tears, I watched my baby girl walk across the stage accepting her diploma at Texas State University as a Cum Laude graduate. 🎓

Over 20 years ago, I thought a lot about what lessons I wanted to teach my daughter. But as Leanna walked across the stage in her cap and gown, I found myself reflecting on what she's taught me.

✨To examine your purpose in life, often
✨To never limit yourself or your potential 
✨To try hard things and believe that you can achieve them

When I look at Leanna, I'm amazed at what she's achieved under her own initiative, grateful that she's accepting of my occasional advice (thinking maybe I had something to do with her minor in Diversity Studies 😉), and thankful for the reminder that as we teach the next generation, we can learn from them, too. I couldn’t have asked for a better early Mother’s Day gift.
